He married (2) ANNA A. BUERGEL Bef. 1903, daughter of WILHELM BUERGEL and JULIANA BUERGEL. She was born Abt. 1872, and died Jun 12, 1932 in Davenport,Scott Co.,Iowa (Fairmount).

According to info on 1925 Iowa census, he completed grade 6. He was out of work for the entire year of 1924. He lived at 314 S. Howell and owned the house with a value of 3000.00. He was naturalized citizen.

James H. Petersen

James H. Petersen, 75, died at 1 a.m. today at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Capt. and Mrs. D.L. Risley, on Rock Island Arsenal, where he had made his home for the last six months.

Mr. Petersen was born June 30, 1861 in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and came to America, direct to Davenport, when he was 16. He was of Lutheran faith.

Surviving are one son, William Petersen, Buffalo; one daughter, Mrs. Risley; one sister, Mrs. Anna Garvey, Davenport; one brother, Peter Petersen, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. and 10 grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Hill & Fredericks mortuary where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery.

Davenport Democrat and Leader, Sunday, June 3, 1945:

Mrs. Julia Geison, 70, a life resident of Scott County, died at 4:20 a.m. Saturday at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. She had made her home for the last five years at the Pella Nolls residence in Long Grove.

Mrs. Geison was born Aug. 30, 1874, in Davenport and was educated in the city schools. Her husband and two sons preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Mr. Dick Risley, Rock Island Arsenal, and Mrs. Forrest Goeke of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Kelly and Mrs. Alice Dunklau, both of Davenport and Mrs. Leona McCleary, Muscatine; 10 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Runge chapel, followed by interment in Fairmount cemetery

1920 Soundex had him enumerated with Adolph Murer and living on Front Street in Buffalo. Murer is the one he later bought a bakery from. He later turned the bakery into a tavern when bakery business fell off because Wonder came into Davenport.

Wednesday, March 28, 1939:

Funeral services for William Petersen, 43, owner of a tavern in Buffalo, who died at Mercy Hospital Monday will be held from the famly home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday thence to St. Peter's church in Buffalo at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Petersen was born in Davenport, Aug. 13, 1895 and formerly operated a bakery in Buffalo. He married Celesta Westendorf in St. Peter's church, Jan. 5, 1921. He was a World War veteran enlisting Dec. 10, 1917 in quartermaster corps and served at Camp Dodge, Ia. and Camp Wheeler, Ga. He was discharged as sergeant Jan. 6, 1919. He was a member of Walcott post No. 548 of the American Legion.

Surviving besides the widow are two sons, Harold and William R. at home; three daughters, Maryjo, Esther and Suzanne, all at home, his mother, Mrs. Julia Geason, Davenport and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Risley, Rock Island and Mrs. Mildred Goeke, Chicago.
