months...Frank Blackman and family of Big Rock, Ia. were on our streets
Sunday...Miss Winifred Binford has gone to Cedar Falls, Ia. to resume her
studies at the State Normal school...Mrs. Liddie Kendard, of Sabula, Ia., is
here visiting with her mother, Mrs. Edith Hickson, one mile west of
town...Sam Raboss, of DeWitt, Ia. was at the home of his sister, Miss Liddie
Raboss, Sunday.

Dixon, Ia., Sept 13-Charles Stephens left for Drake
University at Des
Moines to attend college...Miss Anna Treimer has departed for school at Iowa
City...S.R. Crisp has departed for Mancature, Minn. to visit his mother,
whom he has not seen for some time past...Richard Schaffer of Davenport,
came out to join the sports here for a hunting tour of Nebraska. He leaves
with his brother-in-law, Will Carstens and Louis Michel. They departed last
night for Burwell, Neb. They will go 70 miles north of that city to the
Willow lakes. They expect to bag lots of game before they return.. Marshell
Kane, of Big Rock, was in town Monday on legal business.

DIXON.
DIXON, Ia., April 3- Still the wagon roads are in a bad
condition for travel, the worst we have ever known them to be.
Mrs. S.E. Cehner went to Bennett to call upon her
daughter, Mrs. Johan, for a day.
Mrs. John Standish of Oxford Junction is here visiting
with her husband's mother and sister, Mrs. Mary Standish and Balie.
Nelson Greve was called to Davenport Friday by the
death of his aunt.
Henry Brockmann went to Grand Mound Saturday to help
his parents celebrate their birthday.
Bernhard Killeen went to Davenport Friday to call upon
his mother for a few hours' visit.
Emil Voss was a passenger for Davenport to visit with
his brothers for a few days with the Voss Bros. Grocers.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Boughfur, cousin of H.W. Meinert,
made him a pleasant visit and they departed for home Tuesday.
A jolly party of ladies went to Noels to visit with
Mrs. Ernest Muhs Thursday as follows: Mrs. W.A. Schmidt, Mrs. Otto Carstens,
Mrs. J.W. Sabee and Mr. Klahn., Miss Manda Voss.
Miss Mabel Riley of Allen's Grove was a passenger to
McCausland to visit with her aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs. C.E. Sheridan.
Mrs. Luella Hill of Perry came home to spend a few days
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Schmidt.

Mrs. Mabel Mills and children after a pleasant visit
during this past week, departed for Cedar Falls, their home, Saturday.
Miss Sarah Figley left Saturday for Toronto to stay
with her brother.
John Flenker was a passenger for the city of Davenport
to do trading.
Mrs. and Mrs. C.B. Snyder went to Davenport to Sunday
with their daughter, Mrs. Mary Bowling.
Miss Ruth Everson, after a pleasant visit with her
mother, Mrs. Dellie Shannon of Rock Island, Ill., and her aunt, Mrs. Abbie
Anderson of Davenport, returned home.
Mike Thell of Buena Vista was in town Saturday shaking
hands with old friends.
Chris Rock went to Grand Mound to visit with a brother,
Wm. K. Rock and a sister, Mrs. Theodore Brockmann.
Henry Wuestenberg of Donahue was in town Monday on
business before the Allens Grove township board of trustees.
Mrs. Platt two and one half miles east of town, in some
manner while having hold of her horse, fell and the animal stepped on her hand
and one finger had to be amputated.
Mr. and Mrs. M.R. Fitzgibbon went to Strawberry Point
for a visit with Mr. Fitzgibbon's parents before they leave for New York City to
live.
Mrs. Chris Ketelsen after a pleasant visit with her
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Carter, of Luverne, Minn., arrived
home.
Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Booth of Bennett have moved here to
make their future home, where Mr. Booth has his livery barn.
Nellie Yale of the Davenport high school came home to
spend the Sabbath with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Yale.
Chris H. Voss was a passenger for Davenport Monday to
call upon his sons, the Voss brothers.
Mrs. Mary Zindel of Davenport is here to visit with her
son, Rudolph Zindel, and family.
John Langseth, the well-known stock buyer of Buena
Vista, has moved with his family to this little village to make his future home.
Mrs. Mary Brockman, after a pleasant visit with her
parents at Grand Mound, returned home.
Frank Foot of New Liberty moved into the tenant house
of Mrs. Jurgens.

DIXON, April 9- Chris Ketelsen went to Sundbury to call
upon some friends and to look after a team, Saturday.
Mrs. Ted Killeen of Davenport, after a pleasant visit
here with her son, Reinhald Killeen, departed for home Saturday.
The new barn of Jurgens is very near completion and it
is a credit to our town.
The smallpox south of town is reported getting along
well and there are no new cases reported.
The Dixon baseball team will have their third annual
ball the 21st. H.W. Dunnann has been elected manager for the season.
Miss Ertie Connor, after a pleasant visit with her
sister, Mrs. Johnson, at Bennett, returned home Saturday.
Prof. G.W. King went to Tipton to do some carpenter
work for his son-in-law, Geo. Walton.
Mrs. Luella Hill of Perry is here as her mother is
reported very ill but slowly improving.
Hans Theade has made some additions to his new barn. It
is now 18 x 30 feet.

DIXON, Ia., April 13- Alvin Greve, brakeman on the C. M.
& St. P. railway at Milwaukee returned to his post of duty after a week's
absence here at home.
Mrs. Louis Riefe of Davenport has been visiting with
her son, Conrad Riefe, west of town.
Ed Chrohnwick went to Big Rock to work on mason work
for Idle Lendt.
Miss Maria Stoltenberg of Little's Grove, is here
visiting with her sister, Mrs. Herman Schroeder.

DIXON, Ia., Aug 1- Mrs. Geo. Paustian,
of Davenport, after a pleasant visit here with her husband's sisters, Mrs. Ed
Klahn, Miss Otto Carstens, departed for home.
Att. E.B. O'Neill, of Davenport, was in town Thursday
en route for the city. He had just come home from visiting his mother, Mrs.
Elizabeth O'Neill, of Allen Grove.
Mrs. Liddie Kindred of Sabula is here visiting with her
brother, W.H. Hickson and family.
Miss Ruth Everson was a passenger for Big Rock Thursday
and helped Miss Golda Terry celebrate her thirteenth birthday.
Benjamin Padgham, after an absence of two weeks at his
sister's, Mrs. Laura Belle at Bennett, returned home.
Mrs. Mattie Hummell, of Davana, Ill., is here visiting
with her aunts and uncles, the Hicksons.
Miss Maggie Meyers of New Liberty was in town to help
her sister, Mrs. Manda King, celebrate her 23d birthday Thursday.

DIXON, Ia., Aug 15- Miss Veronica Ketelsen of Big Rock
was in town Friday calling on old schoolmates.
C.D. Mills of Cedar Falls was in town Friday and paid a
brief visit to his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Binford and his
bother-in-law, Dr. W.S. Binford and Chas. Ludwig.
W.M. Christie representing J.H. Dole & Co was in
town calling upon the grain merchants Friday.
Henry Stahff of Davenport, after a pleasant visit here
with his wife's daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Doney, departed for home Friday.
Christian Hahl?an of Garvin after a pleasant visit with
his aunt at Buena Vista took his departure for home on Thursday.
Douglass Huster who has been spending the past nine
months in Illinois came back to Dixon to work during the threshing season.
Miss Anna Yale one of the teachers at Zion City, Ill.,
came home to see her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Yale.
Miss Maude Binford of Detroit, Mich., was here to visit
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Binford, Saturday.
Mrs. Martha Jensen of Davenport after a very pleasant
visit with her mother, Mrs. A. Wright at Buena Vista departed for home.
F.G. Engelhart left for Winsor, Mo., in search of land
for entry.
J.C. Shearer of Tipton, Mrs. C. S. Hawkins and Mrs.
Dilley visited the Hawkins-Dilley camp on the Wapello Thursday.

DIXON, Ia., Aug. 24- Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O'Connor of Red
Wing, Minn., and family, are here for a few days' visit with Mr. and Mrs.
O'Connor and old friends and neighbors of years gone by.
Katie Porth of Davenport, who has been visiting with
Mr. and Mrs. Chas Porth of Buena Vista was in town Saturday on her way home.
Adelia Mohr of St. Louis, Mo., departed for her home
Saturday afternoon after a pleasant visit with her parents, Mrs. Joachim Mohr.
Miss Meta Paustian is here visiting with her sisters,
Mrs. Carstens and Mrs. Klahms.
Harold Warner was a passenger for Davenport where he
visited his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Riefe.
Dr. Henry Hell of New Liberty was in town calling on
old friends Saturday.
Mrs. Fred Firch and children, of Geneseo, Ill, were in
town on their way home from Buena Vista where they were visiting Mrs. Firch's
brother, Gus Vatter.
John King was a passenger for Fowler, Kan., where he
will visit his uncle, James King.
Arthur S. Olsen left Wednesday for Gaspon, N.Y., to see
his sister, Mrs. Francis R. Day, while in the East he will attend school at
Gasport.
Joseph Hesse and Max Bunge returned from Canada
Wednesday. Mr. Bunge bought a 160-acre farm while there.
The famous Oscar Wylie, "steeple jack" of
Davenport, stopped in town Tuesday on his way to Davenport.
Wm. Puls of Davenport was in town and spent Sunday with
friends.
Mrs. C.E. Sheridan was of McCausland spent Sunday with
her father, G. King, southeast of town.
C.B. Snyder was a passenger for Davenport, calling on
his daughter, Mrs. M.E. Bowling Tuesday.
Mrs. George Walton of Tipton spent Sunday with her
father, Geo. W. King.

DIXON, Ia., Aug 31- James Beamer of Bennett was in town
Sunday and Monday shaking hands with his many friends. He also called upon his
father, J.C. Beamer, east of town.
R.S. Snyder, the rural mail carrier, went to Des Moines
Monday night to attend the rural free delivery mail carriers' convention and
also to visit the state fair.
Miss Winnie Flenker of Rock Island, Ill, returned home
after a pleasant visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Flenker.
Mrs. Juel Bousselot of Buena Vista were to Martin to
visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Diers, Saturday.
Mrs. Jochim Wiese of Eldridge was in town Saturday on
her way to Bennett, where she will visit with her daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Connor and family of Red Wing have
departed for their home, after a pleasant visit with Mr. Connor's parents,
Mr.and Mrs. S.E. Connor as well as with old neighbors.
Mr. and Mrs. John Ehlers of Grand Mound, who spent
Sunday with Mr. Ehler's brother, met with an accident on their return trip home,
which fortunately did not result seriously. The team became frightened on the
Davenport road, east of town, and ran into a wire fence in which one of the
horses became tangled up. Mr. Ehlers jumped from the wagon with the baby and
neither were injured. The horse had to be liberated from the fence by means of
pliers. Fortunately all escaped uninjured and the horse remained unharmed.

DIXON, Ia., Feb. 1- The icemen are fairly under way cutting
ice- just about half finished.
John Hansen, the harness maker, was a passenger for Davenport
Tuesday to buy some goods for his trade.
The members of the H.M.F. club met with Miss Anna Ketelsen
Wednesday evening on Davenport street. There were 14 members present. Cinch was
played at three tables and the highest score was won by Miss Clara Hansen. The
second prize fell to Miss Millie Heuer. Light refreshments were served after the
game.
Geo. Hill of Perry, who came here to see his wife, was a
passenger for Davenport Wednesday to call upon relatives and from there departed
for home with his wife and child.
Miss Amelia Dozelal of Oxford Junction who was here visiting
with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. A. Schmidt, left for Davenport Monday.
Raymond Bowling of Davenport, who is stopping here with his
grandparents went to Davenport Monday to spend a few days at home.
P.J. Thede was a passenger for Eldridge to attend business
college Monday after spending the Sabbath with parents.

DIXON, Ia., Feb. 11- The farmers here are busy hauling their
summer's supply of ice of the best quality, 16 inches thick.
Frank Keppy of Donahue was in town Friday and engaged two
cars of ice from the King Bros.
August Tage and son of Davenport came out to spend the
Sabbath with his brother-in-law, Hans Baumgarten.
A.F. Ulrich, representing the Beatrice Creamery company of
Chicago, was in town looking up business for his house Saturday.
Jay Wulf, veterinary surgeon of Grand Mound, was summoned
here Thursday by Henry Brockmann. One of his horses was badly kicked by another
horse that got loose in the barn.
The Thursday afternoon club met with Mrs. Larenze Paulsen
Cinch was played during the afternoon and the prize for highest score went to
Miss Hilda Thede and the consolation prize was won by Mrs. John Hickson. The
next meeting will be with Mrs. Clara at the home of Mrs. Wilbur Ruch February
21.
The members of the H.M.T. club met with Miss Jessie Newhouse
one mile south of Big Rock and two and one half miles west of Dixon
Saturday evening. Nearly all the members being present they surrounded three
tables in playing cinch. Miss Lillie Meinert was awarded the highest score while
Miss Hilda Thede received the consolation prize for the lowest score. After the
games, light refreshments were served, of which all the members partook and
enjoyed themselves with their hostess. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Clara
Petersen Wednesday evening.

DIXON, Ia., Feb. 19- Ed King is preparing to commence sawing
lumber.
B.W. Padgham of Bennett came home to spend a few hours with
his father Saturday.
Geo Walton of Tipton, who has been here for the past few days
cutting wood, left for home Saturday.
Otto Carstens is reported improving nicely after having the
typhoid fever.
Jens Dierksen has his woodshed nearly finished on his new
property. When the house is built it will loom up like the Flat Iron square.
Wm Riley of Allens Grove is moving onto the Alec Lendt farm,
two miles north of town.
Peter Thede of Davenport, but a former Dixonite, came out
here Friday evening to spend the night with his son, J.H. Thede,. He also called
upon his sister, Miss Peter Thomsen and returned home Saturday.
Mrs. L.B. St. John of Brushville, was in town Friday in route
for Bennett to visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Puls, near Sunbury.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Janner, of Sutherland, after a very
enjoyable visit here with Mrs. Janner's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rud Schwein, left
for home Friday.
Mrs. S.E. Conner went to Bennett to see her daughter, Mrs.
Johann.
Morris Villmont, after a few days' visit with his brother,
Victor Villmont of Wellsburg, returned home Saturday.
The members of the H.M.T. club were pleasantly entertained at
the home of Miss Clara Petersen Wednesday evening. On account of the inclement
weather, all of the members were not present. Two tables were surrounded at
cinch. The highest score was awarded to Miss Mabel Chronwick and the second was
won by Miss Hilda Thede. After the games light refreshments were served. The
next meeting will be with Miss Winnie Flenker.
