Their children were Sarah, born in England in 1847 and William ,born in Pennsylvania USA in Sept. 1850. I have certified copies of the marriage Certificate of Thomas and Margaret, 15 June, 1845 and of the birth Certificate of Sarah-01 October, 1847. (Certs. from PRO in London, England). I was unable to find Thomas and family in the 1850 Census in Pennsylvania. They were not in the Soundex.

In the August, 1860 Census, Thomas is married to Elizabeth and living in St. Louis Township, Missouri with their children Sarah 13, William 10, Austin Howorth 10, (Elizabeths' son by a previous marriage born in England), Margaret 4, born in Missouri and Sophia 2, born in Missouri. OBITUARY--Davenport Democrat, 20 February, 1896

Thomas Micklewright, one of the early settlers of Scott county and a well known and highly respected farmer, died very suddenly at his home in Winfield Township, 4 miles from Long Grove at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Although he had been in poor health for years, and had not been away from home for some time, his death was not expected. Seventeen years ago he suffered from a stroke of paralysis destroying the use of the right side of his body. He recovered almost entirely from this affliction but had always been afraid his death would be caused by paralysis and his fears were not groundless as his sudden death yesterday was from that cause. The deceased was born in England in 1822 and came to Scott County in 1858 spending 38 years residence in the country farming. He leaves a wife 72 years of age and two sons, one living at home and one residing in Davenport. Arrangements for the funeral have not as yet been completed. As of Nov. 2000 I have not found Thomas or Elizabeth's graves)

Davenport Sunday Democrat, 23 February, 1896:

The will of the late Thomas Micklewright was filed for probate Saturday. The estate is disposed of as follows: To William Micklewright, the oldest son, in addition to what has already been given him is bequeathed the sum of $1.00. The same sum is bequeathed to a daughter, Sarah Nichols in addition to what she has already received. All the balance of estate is bequeathed to the wife, Elizabeth Micklewright during her natural life and after her death to her children. Charles D. Martin is appointed executer. The instrument is dated Feb. 19, 1890 and witnessed by James T. Lane and Charles Davison.

Margaret Hall was the 1st wife of Thomas Micklewright. They had daughter Sarah Ann in England in 1847 and then came to Pennsylvania before 1850 where son William was born. At the time of their marriage, Margaret was listed as a spinster and occupation "Servant" and Thomas was listed as a Bachelor and occupation "Collier". They were married "according to the rites and ceremonies of the Established Church after banns." I have certified copies of their Marriage certificate and of Sarah's birth certificate from the PRO in London. Their witnesses at their marriage were William Ricard and Ann Yulet. They lived in the town of Pensnett, Kingswinford when they were married and when Sarah was born.

I Could not find Margaret and Thomas in the 1850 Census in Pennsylvania but Margaret must have died soon after Williams birth in 1850 because before 1857 Thomas was married to Elizabeth Thorpe Howarth and living in Missouri.

Elizabeth Thorpe was married previously and had a son, Austin Howarth born in 1852 in England. She was born abt 1824 in Manchester England.

She died on June 22, 1897 at age 73 " shock from accidental poisoning." also infirmity of age. She is buried at St. Annes Church, Long Grove, Ia. Her Register of Death entry is signed by C.T. Krmmerer M.D. Eldridge, Ia.

I could not find her grave at St. Anns, Long Grove and understand (via Barbara Kettles) that her death certificate says she was buried at Pine Hill Cemetery--(do not have copy of Death cert.)
