On 11 Aug 1853, Hanna ARNDT married Wm GAUC?? (Not certain of last two
letters, but think next to last
is a K). Am almost certain that Hanna is Hanna Maria Ernestina Augusta
Ahrndt, born 5 Nov 1828 in the village of Krusemarkshagen, Kreis Demmin, in the
present-day state of Mecklenberg-Vorpommern, and was the sister of my
greatgrandfather, William Arndt. The parents and some siblings are listed
in both the 1856 state census and 1860 federal census. Want to find church
or other records which will confirm Hanna's identity.
Also, I think her father, Christian Friedrich August ARNDT, died and is buried
in Scott Co., most likely the Davenport area.

SLATE, (could be SLEIGHT, SLOET, SLOT etc.) SCHNEIDER (sometimes SNEIDER) Looking for information on Henrriette (aka Marie, Mary) SLATE born 25 April 1834 in Holstein, Immigrated to Davenport Iowa with her parents (Peter & wife) in 1854, Henriette probably married to Joseph SCHNEIDER in 1855, moved to stillwater Minnesota circa 1856, shows up in Stillwater Minnesota 1857 census as Henriette Sneider (SIC) with Joseph Sneider and daughter Matilda aged 2. Son, Julius Schneider born 4 July 1858 in Stillwater. Moved from Stillwater to Luxemburg Minnesota with family in 1858. SLATE is probably not the correct spelling for her family name. Help with the Holsteinese spelling would be apprecieated. Henriettes' fathers' name Peter SLATE was on death certificate dated 7 April 1909. Have not been able to find any entries for Peter SLATE or anything close in census for Washington County Minnesota. Any information on the SLATE family arrival in the USA, residence in Davenport, Marriage of Joseph Schneider and Henriette, or birth of Matilda SCHNEIDER would be appreciated. Joseph SCHNEIDER immigrated to the USA from Baden, possibly from the village of Lauf, Ortenau. He arrived alone in New York on 25 December 1853 on the ship Samoset. There is a blank from then until the 1857 census. Marriage and move dates, indicate that he may have been living in Davenport Iowa in 1854 and 1855. |

Parents of Sally Hinchliffe
Francis Lynn
Hinchliffe November 19 1903 born somewhere around Davenport,
Iowa went to school with Bix Biederbeck graduated from Davenport High
School in 1922, went on to Wisconsin U. then to work. Died 9-12-89 Arizona.
Dorothy
Ida Faeber Hinchliffe November 20? 1906 born we think in Muscatine
Iowa, but find family history in Davenport in 1907. family
lived on 7th street in Davenport from 1907-1934. Died may 29, 1993,
Boise, Idaho.
We are looking for Alexander Joseph Faerber and his
wife Clara Augusta Schaffnit (we think Clara was from Muscatine, we have found
her father, Henry Schaffnit whose 2nd wife was Elizabeth Roach daughter of
Musser/Roach business combination in Muscatine. We have found Henry's
Father migration from Germany thru France, New Orleans, Missouri, then Muscatine
to the property of ? Funk.
Although Alexander J. Faerber ran a successful
income and tax planning business from 1934 to 1960? and had powerful
connections (all listed in Francis L. Hinchliffe memoirs - he work with A. J.
for a long time). we cannot find out before Davenport, where the
Faerber family is from. From family stories they are originally from
Germany, but we can not find out where Alexander or Clara were born.
We do have a document from 1918, that puts Alexander
Joseph Faerber listed as AJ Faerber appointed as Secret Service of the State by
W. L. Harding, Governor of Iowa on May 31, 1918, in Des Moines, Iowa. Also
signed by W. S. Allen Secretary of State. We have other documents and
engraved mementos that place AJ Faerber in Davenport from 1910-1935.
We think that Alexander was born in Ohio. We
do know that he was born 11-24-1877 and died in 1964. We have not found
birth or death records for Clara.
Alexander's father's name was Joseph.

This family moved to Rock Island, RI, IL in the
1880s.
They may have been members of St. Joseph Catholic
Church as 3 or Louisa (Mrs. Louis Glockhoff of Rock Island) were baptized in
that church in 1884 (2) and 1886 (1).
I am seeking information on this family - whether
they had relatives who remained in Davenport, what Clemens Mougin's occupation
was, and if his wife was from Davenport.
Clemens Mougin emigrated from Balfort, France, to
the best of my knowledge.
